Fife recruitment company hits £16m in 10th year

A Fife recruitment company is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a £16M turnover.
Since its inception in 2007, Glenrothes-based Blueprint Recruitment has grown into one of the country’s leading technical, construction, administration and engineering recruitment companies.
Turning over £1M in year one, the company has hit a £16M turnover as it marks its 10th year in business.
Ronnie Harris, Managing Director, who has 28 years’ experience in the recruitment sector, commented, “Because Blueprint is privately owned, we are able to provide a highly personal service to our clients, which is unrivalled by many larger companies.  Our people make the difference and our team has built a reputation for providing an efficient and caring service.”
Blueprint also operates a vigorous training programme to shape the next generation of recruitment consultants, with five trainees currently on board.
Once appointed, trainees work their way through a task book incorporating ‘live’ exercises, a six to twelve month commitment, ultimately becoming Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP) registered recruitment professionals.
Ronnie explained, “Due to a national shortage of high-quality recruitment consultants, we therefore took the decision to invest in the next generation of recruitment consultants, to grow our own and hopefully retain them in the business. People are at the heart of Blueprint, but they need to be the right people – we invest heavily in our trainees so, in return, we expect hard work and commitment from them, allowing us to achieve our own business goals and, ultimately, give our clients what they need – the very best personnel.”
Of course, behind any successful business is a team of professional business advisors with Blueprint relying on EQ Chartered Accountants to handle their day-to-day financial affairs and long-term, strategic planning.
Ronnie continued, “At Blueprint, we have an explicit set of values and principles which we ourselves work by, and which we expect our people to adhere to, whether that’s down to their passion and pride or their commitment to discipline, perseverance and integrity.  We were attracted by EQ’s way of working as they complemented our style of business, with very similar values and a steadfast commitment to excellence. We always make an effort to do things right the first time, and EQ are the same.
“The fact that EQ have their own specialist Property and Construction team was also a huge pull.  It meant we could hit the ground running, with their understanding of the sectors we operate in. Accountancy isn’t just about compliance and doing things by the book – EQ also offer a really friendly service where we can pick up the phone at any time for advice on everything from tax and staff pensions to our longer-term goals.”
Steven Todd, Head of Property and Construction team at EQ in Glenrothes added, “We thoroughly enjoy our relationship with Blueprint and it’s particularly gratifying to add value to their business, supporting their growth to achieve a £16M turnover in 2017, a very significant increase in 10 years. Our Construction and Property team is also growing – not only are we building the business but constantly adding to our knowledge of these sectors by hosting sector-specific seminars and attending events which contribute to our understanding of the challenges our clients are facing.  Most clients don’t just want an accountant, but specialist business advisors who can help them achieve their long-term objectives.”
