AN Edinburgh accountancy practice has become the only Scottish business to be shortlisted for a national award.

Accountability Edinburgh, founded by local mother of three Rosie Berridge in 2012, is shortlisted at the UK Xero Awards 2023 – one of the largest industry awards of their kind in the country, in the Bookkeeping Partner of the Year category.

They are the only Scottish firm shortlisted in this category, and one of only two Scottish businesses to make the shortlist at all. The awards will be held in London 19 April 2023.

Accountability Edinburgh, based in Duddingston Village, employs 13 staff, and largely works with Scottish clients ranging in scale from self-employed tradespeople to multi-million pound businesses with international reach.

The business specialises in supporting businesses who have previously encountered problems with their accounting or struggle to understand their accounts, working pro-actively with clients to ensure the numbers make sense.

Rosie Berridge commented: “I am delighted we are shortlisted for this award. It is testament to the hard work the team have put in. We are problem solvers, and while other accountants shy away from messy or challenging accounts, that is the kind of work we seek out as we know how much value we can bring.”

“We have put an enormous amount of time, effort and heart into growing an exemplary bookkeeping business and this shows that we are on the right path. We often hear from prospective clients that they have very little contact with their accountants or bookkeepers, and we actively try to tackle that. This shortlisting is recognition that our work is valuable – and in demand.”
