Verlume, a world leader in subsea power systems, is a finalist in the Company of the Year (Under 50 Employees) category at the upcoming Global Underwater Hub Subsea Expo Awards.

The Aberdeen-headquartered business, currently employing 41 people, uses proprietary intelligent energy management technology to bring together intermittent and renewable power generation with energy storage, to create a full power delivery system with stabilised power output.

Recognising excellence in Verlume’s overall performance, the Company of the Year (Under 50 Employees) category also acknowledges the firm’s international business growth, competitive advantage through intelligent energy management, supply chain commitment, employee development, as well as having strong business policies that benefit the environment, economy and society.

The award ceremony, taking place on 19th February in Aberdeen, is a prestigious annual event that celebrates the achievements of companies and individuals that are leading the way in the UK’s £9.2 billion underwater industry.

Richard Knox, chief executive officer at Verlume, said: “Being named as a finalist in this category by the UK’s leading underwater industry trade body is a great honour. As a business, we are pushing boundaries to create world-first technologies and providing subsea power solutions for the energy industry in ways that have never been done before.

“This recognition is not just about our achievements but also the individual efforts of our outstanding team, our loyal customers and the invaluable support from our collaborators, investors, supply chain and friends.”

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Global Underwater Hub, added: “The shortlisted finalists in the 2025 Subsea Expo Awards illustrate how the underwater industry reaches all parts of the UK and the diversity of businesses that support it. Our awards dinner in February is an opportunity for industry to come together to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of the individuals and businesses that are driving forward a sector that is helping deliver the energy transition.”

Eight awards will be presented at the black-tie event, to which over 550 guests are expected to attend.

Verlume will also be exhibiting at Global Underwater Hub’s Subsea Expo on Stand 73 from 18th – 20th February at P&J Live, Aberdeen.
