Glasgow-based deep-tech company Chemify has raised more than £37 million in a Series B funding round to accelerate the global growth of its pioneering digital chemistry platform.

The oversubscribed £37.3 million ($50 million) round was co-led by Wing Venture Capital and Insight Partners, with additional backing from 8VC, Triatomic Capital, Blueyard, Rockspring and Eos. Founded in 2022 as a University of Glasgow spin-out by Professor Lee Cronin, Chemify combines artificial intelligence, robotics, and computation to automate molecule design and synthesis.

Chemify’s mission is to digitise chemistry through its Chemputation platform — a system that allows the design, optimisation and creation of molecules via codified digital instructions. This technology transforms the traditionally manual and time-consuming process of molecular synthesis into a highly reproducible and data-driven one.

Earlier this year, the firm unveiled its first Chemifarm, a fully automated molecular factory that integrates robotics and validated chemical data to produce compounds in a matter of days rather than months. The new funding will support the expansion of such facilities worldwide, enabling on-demand molecule production for pharmaceutical, biotech and materials science partners.

Chief executive and founder Lee Cronin said the company’s ambition is to make chemistry programmable for the first time. “We want Chemify to be the digital backbone of chemistry — capable of designing and manufacturing any molecule on demand for a broad range of industries,” he explained.

The investment marks one of Scotland’s largest Series B funding rounds
