Brightwaste appoints new Head of Operations

10/04/2017

Linda Stewart has been appointed Head of Operations for office recycling and waste management company Brightwaste, based in Musselburgh, which launched in February.
Roger Green, CEO of Spotless and Brightwaste, said: “Now that our launch is complete in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Linda will be in charge of overseeing Brightwaste’s business strategy. Her expertise will be extremely valuable as we seek to grow our office recycling business and take it to the next level.  We hope to treble our business over the next year.
“Linda came up with the idea of setting up a separate recycling and waste collection company about five years ago. The timing wasn’t right but as time progressed it became clear that it was a new ‘added value’ service that we could offer existing customers of our commercial cleaning company Spotless as well as help us win new ones. She has been instrumental in helping shape the development and launch of Brightwaste so her appointment as the company’s Head of Operations is very well deserved.”
Linda joined commercial cleaning company Spotless in 1994 as a Junior manager and rose through the ranks to a senior management position responsible for a portfolio of clients worth over £500,000.
Linda Stewart comments: “Brightwaste offers a new service designed specifically for city centre offices. We provide a total waste management solution; helping our customers segregate at source, recycle and reduce the costs of disposal by offering a collection service that picks up directly from their office at a time that is convenient for them.  This means they don’t need to risk fines for not separating materials for recycling correctly or leaving rubbish bags on the street for collection.”
Businesses now have a legal duty to present metal, plastic, glass, paper and card separately for collection or face fines from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) ranging from a £300 Fixed Monetary Penalty up to a fine of £10,000 for persistent failure to comply with the duty to segregate materials for recycling.
Brightwaste helps city centre businesses segregate and stream their waste to improve their recycling and waste management processes without incurring high costs.
