Sample storage company Astoriom has acquired Roylance Stability Storage Limited and Roylance Scientific Limited, the Glasgow-based UK operations of life sciences stability storage provider Sampled. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Astoriom provides stability and biorepository storage for scientific research and consumer product samples. It says the acquisition strengthens its specialist storage and sample management capabilities, and gives it broader coverage, additional expertise and operational resilience in safeguarding samples, materials and equipment used in scientific research and product innovation.

Astoriom said it will now provide customers using services at Sampled’s Glasgow facility with storage environments supported by continuous monitoring, inventory controls and business continuity systems at its flagship UK facility in Rochdale.

The company has more than 30 years’ experience in providing outsourced sample storage services and technical support. It is backed by Limerston Capital, a UK mid-market private equity investment firm, and has grown considerably over the past two years through what it describes as a long-term international approach driven by mergers and acquisitions.

Its earlier deals include the acquisition of UK-based MTS Cryo Stores and Cool Repair Scientific UK, US-based Flagship Biosciences’ biorepository solutions and Precision Stability Storage. It has also launched a cryo suite and expanded its site in Tramore, Ireland.

Will Edwards, chief executive of Astoriom, said: “Astoriom’s continued growth reflects the sustained demand for our integrated services. This recent acquisition reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality sample storage capabilities in the UK and beyond.”

He added: “Our utmost priority throughout this process is to maintain continuity of service, building upon the strong foundation Sampled has put in place, while providing access to the additional expertise, resources and capabilities available through Astoriom.”
