KURTIS Toy, Chief Executive of Onca Technologies Ltd, has been awarded the 2023 award for Cyber Security CEO of the Year – Aberdeenshire from CEO Monthly.

Onca Technologies, headquartered in Newburgh, supports businesses across the UK with a complete range of IT services. Specialising in cyber security, IT advice and bespoke system solutions, the practical knowledge and extensive experience of Onca’s team helps protect businesses from cyber threats, improve efficiencies, and maximise productivity.

CEO Monthly is a global publication bringing together insight and expertise from every major sector and industry across the world. Its awards programme recognises business leaders who are demonstrating outstanding success in their fields and nominees are judged on a range of criteria including business performance, stakeholder feedback and innovation within the business.

Kurtis, who founded Onca Technologies in 2016, is qualified as a Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP) as well as an experienced Chief Information Security Officer and Data Protection Officer. Kurtis is recognised as a leading expert in the cyber security arena: in addition to his role as CEO of Onca Technologies, he is also the Convenor of the Cyber Centre of Excellence, an initiative aimed at local authorities and UK public bodies to help them stay abreast of cyber threats and access military-grade cyber protection.

Kurtis possesses a wealth of experience in managing information security and implementing GDPR documentation and ISO standards, ensuring Onca’s clients are fully compliant with the myriad of regulations and legal requirements facing businesses today.

Cyber attacks are not a new threat, but they are a rising one; increasing in both frequency and complexity. The impact of a successful attack – both financial and reputational – can be catastrophic for any organisation.

Onca’s team of specialists help safeguard businesses against these attacks with a comprehensive, tailored approach to cyber security. The team offers a range of solutions, from guidance on GDPR procedures to a fully managed Security Operations Centre, which continuously monitors, identifies and responds to security incidents. Onca also offers vCISO (virtual Chief Information Security Officer) support to help businesses protect their data, providing practical support and strategic advice on a consultancy basis.

Kurtis said: “I’m delighted to have been named Cyber Security of the Year for Aberdeenshire. The business world continues to become more and more digitised, and the goal posts are constantly moving when it comes to cyber security. I’m incredibly proud of the work we do at Onca to help keep businesses safe, and it’s very rewarding to have our skill and expertise recognised.”
