A year of victories for Aberdeenshire site managers with another prestigious award win

24/11/2023

FOUR site managers from Barratt Developments North Scotland, which includes Barratt and David Wilson Homes, have been recognised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) for excellence in on-site management for developments in Aberdeenshire.

Allan Barclay (Charleston Green, Cove), Scott O’Donnell (Westburn Gardens, Aberdeen) Victoria Chalmers (Hopecroft View, Bucksburn) and Barry Cooper (Osprey Heights, Inverurie) were all awarded with a ‘Seal of Excellence’ at the 2023 NHBC Pride in the Job Awards for their work at the developments.

The awards, organised by the UK’s leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes, aim to recognise the outstanding performance and achievement of the country’s best site managers. They’re regarded as the “Oscars of the housebuilding industry”.

The latest achievement adds to earlier awards success, with each of the winners also receiving a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the NHBC in June, marking them down as among the very best in the country.

David Palmer, managing director of Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Scotland, said: “The exemplary work carried out by the winners across our Aberdeenshire developments is a testament to our status as a five-star house builder. I’m glad their efforts have been recognised and awarded, showing what it takes to be a top site manager and to give our customers high-quality homes. We take great pride in winning these awards for 19 years in a row here in Scotland.”

Each year, more than 8,000 site managers from across the UK are judged by the NHBC and leading experts. Winners must consistently score highly in categories such as quality of workmanship, leadership and technical expertise.

This year alone, the housebuilder has won 96 Quality Awards, substantially more than any other housebuilder and more awards than the second and third place housebuilders combined. It has also been awarded 30 Seals of Excellence awards.

Victoria Chalmers said: “I’m incredibly proud to have won this award. It’s a great feeling to be recognised as one of the best site managers in the country and across the UK due to my work at Hopecroft View. Winning this award along with such a committed team in North Scotland just shows the incredible work we’re doing to ensure customers move into their dream homes.”

The awards closely follow Barratt Homes being awarded a 5 star rating from the Home Builders Federation. To be rated 5 stars means that more than 90% of its customers would recommend one of its homes to a friend, with Barratt being the only major national housebuilder to be rated 5 star for fourteen years in a row.
