50 new jobs in pipeline as Glamcandy takes six-figure investment

A Scottish makeup college is set to create 50 new jobs as they eye a UK-wide expansion thanks to a six-figure investment.
Edinburgh-based Glamcandy  has partnered with serial entrepreneur Julian Kynaston – the man behind the cult Illamasqua make up range, which he sold in September to the Hut Group for £25 million.
He has provided a six-figure investment to the college to expand their range of professional make up courses – training individuals as well as prospective make up artists – across the UK.
Mr Kynaston believes the project can make Glamcandy the “go-to makeup college brand in the UK”.
And bosses at the Edinburgh firm – who also operate courses from their college in Dunfermline as well as at locations in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness – say they are now looking to take on dozens of new staff as they set up across Britain.
Hayley Harvey Smith, director of Glamcandy, said they would directly employ 40 to 50 new staff as make up artists, tutors and ancillary staff over the coming years as they grow.
She said: “As with all our courses, we’ll also be teaching our students important business and employability skills as well as teaching them makeup artistry.
“Our graduates have the potential to go on and set up their own businesses or pursue new careers with their skills.
“This investment is a huge boost to Glamcandy and represents a massive vote of confidence in what we have built here and we’re excited to take our brand and our knowledge across the UK.
“We are already the number one makeup college in Scotland – now we want to take that reputation UK-wide.”
Julian Kynaston said: “I don’t see such enthusiasm and potential so often so when I do I’m keen to both invest as well as work on the business.
“Glamcandy can become the go-to makeup college brand in the UK.”
