Law At Work (LAW), the employment law, HR and health & safety specialists, has seen its revenue increase by 30% to £1.48m for the first six months of their accounting period.
The growth comes from new clients acquisition including Border Biscuits and Shetland Arts Trust, as well as increased demand for health & safety support as well as employment law mainly due to the changes around employment tribunals fees.
The HR At Work team, boosted by the acquisition of Square Circle HR in 2016, has expanded to include Senior HR Consultant, Lynn Lavelle, who has 15 years’ experience as an HR advisor, and has previously worked in Royal Bank of Scotland’s Mentor division.
The second hire, Michael Moran, joined Safety At Work, the health & safety arm of the business, as manager in January 2018 after a period with one of the UK’s largest fixed-fee consultancy firms, Peninsula Business Services.
Douglas Cameron, Head of Safety Services, Safety At Work, said: “As we increase our footprint in the hospitality, facilities management and charity sector, it was necessary to expand our team, taking the total number of health & safety specialists up to four. We are also seeing an increase in more project-based work, with clients seeking support on various issues including conducting fire risk assessments in high-risk premises.”
As the employment law division grows at a record rate, achieving 15.6% organic growth in turnover in the 6 months to November 2017, it has employed two recently qualified trainees. Employment lawyers Kirstie Beattie and Paman Singh, will put their client experience to work at a time when the field is witnessing much legislative change. The removal of employment tribunal fees in September 2017 has led to an increase of 22% in the number of unfair dismissal claims being handled by the firm in the last six months.
In addition to securing new business and bringing on new recruits, Law At Work’s latest annual customer service survey confirmed the company’s overall performance producing the best-ever results according to the Net Promoter Score – a Harvard benchmark of excellence – indicating significant loyalty across their client base.
