Mexican Street Food Brand Muchacho Expands into Dundee

18/07/2018

Aberdeen-based Mexican street food outlet has opened its doors to a second outlet in Dundee on the city’s Nethergate.

The 1000 sq ft eatery is designed to encapsulate the vibrant colours, textures and sounds straight from a Mexican street market; with the strong vibrant street art vibe and branding of Muchacho’s Aberdeen, which has established itself as a street food favourite with locals since its opening in January 2016.

The new venue will create between 15 and 20 new jobs for the City of Discovery.

Owner, Lee Brandie, says: “We’ve been scouting premises in Dundee for some time, having identified the up and coming city as the perfect destination for our second Mexican street food venue. With significant investment into its regeneration in recent years, the city has a vibrant, café culture and is the ideal location for our continued growth.

“As with our Aberdeen restaurant, everything we prepare in Dundee is set to excite the senses, and capture the true authentic flavours of Mexico. We will be using fresh, healthy and local produce as well as importing specialist ingredients direct from Mexico. Customers will feel like they have been transported to the warm, bustling streets of Mexico and will be able to see cooking first hand in our open kitchen.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming the people of Dundee into our own little part of Mexico and introducing them to the fresh, authentic flavours and vibrant, uncomplicated cuisine that encapsulates the essence of Mexican culture.”
