Inglis Vets opens new practice in Kirkcaldy following bank funding

Inglis Vets, an independent veterinary group headquartered in Dunfermline, has opened a new practice in Kirkcaldy with funding from Santander Business Banking. The official opening of the practice was carried out by local Fife Flyers ice hockey star Peter LeBlanc and his canine companion Luna.

The group now owns nine practices, including the innovative Healthy Pets centre in Dunfermline, and has been featured on the BBC Television documentary series ‘More Creatures Great & Small’.

Inglis Vets has been trading for over 50 years at their main site in Dunfermline and has developed advanced veterinary care concepts including a successful preventative healthcare plan for pets, which has attracted more than 5,000 members to date.

Education also plays an important role; the company’s ‘Care and Save’ branch in Cowdenbeath regularly welcomes vet students from Edinburgh University as part of their training. The initiative provides a hands-on learning environment for the students under the supervision of senior vets. It also means the branch is able to offer discounted pet care for clients using the service.

Alongside its veterinary work, the group also takes pride in its charitable contributions and provided more than £50,000 in discounts to pet charities in 2016. It also set up the Inglis Vets Malawi fund to support the work that the Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) does to improve the welfare of domestic and farm animals in Malawi.

Ronnie Soutar, Chief Operating Officer, Inglis Vets, said: “We are incredibly proud to be opening our ninth practice in the town of Kirkcaldy. We have a great team on board and this latest addition to the business will mean we can extend our pet-focussed approach to even more clients in the Fife area. The support given to us by Santander throughout the process of getting our new branch up and running has been excellent and we are very grateful to the team. We believe the opening of the practice has firmly cemented the group’s place as one of the East Coast’s strongest veterinary businesses with a focus on delivering high quality care in modern, welcoming environments.”

Scott Hutchinson, Relationship Director at Santander Business Banking, said: “In the competitive veterinary market, Inglis Vets has developed a strong brand and business model and we expect the business to capitalise on the clear success it has in the sector. We are truly excited to be able to offer support to a business that helps to keep our pets in good health and we look forward to working with such a charitable and generous group going forward.”
