Four entrepreneurs from the Highlands and Islands are set to give their businesses a global boost after attending one of the world’s most renowned executive education courses.
The group, from businesses in Inverness, Aviemore, Alness and Mull, will be among 120 entrepreneurs from across the globe taking part in the Entrepreneurship Development Programme at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston next week.
They secured sponsorship from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to attend this year’s programme to gain inspiration and insight from globally renowned entrepreneurs and academics, and learn the tools they need to grow their businesses in national and international markets.
David Oxley, HIE’s director of business and sector development, said: “Our relationship with MIT has gone from strength to strength over the past ten years and has benefited many businesses across the Highlands and Islands. In taking part in this programme businesses gain the inspiration and tools to accelerate their growth and scale up.
“Previous participants have described the course as ‘transformational’ and has led them to radically overhaul their vision, strategies, structures, markets, profitability and success.”
The Highlands and Islands entrepreneurs attending this year are:

  • Robbie Rapson, Loch Ness by Jacobite, (Inverness)
  • Steven Harris, Hydrasun, (Aviemore)
  • Peter Elbourne, New Wave Foods, (Alness)
  • Morven Gibson, South West Mull and Iona Development, (Mull)
