Glasgow-based Rockin Vans expands to London tripling fleet and creating 22 jobs

Glasgow-based Rockin Vans, Scotland’s largest family-run VW campervan hire and conversion company, has expanded its operation into London and trippled its fleet, from 15 to 45 to cater for the growing ‘staycationers and min-mooners’ market, resulting in the creation of 22 new jobs and two apprenticeships.
Kilmarnock-born brothers, Callum and Frazer Johnston, who have been campervan fans from a young age after many European trips with their parents in the back of a bright orange classic VW T2 campervan in the 80s, then together through North America and Australasia, set up Rockin Vans in 2008.
The company specialises in hiring luxury 2, 4 and 6 berth campervans and motorhomes from their sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh Airport, and to meet demand from staycationers, mini-mooners and Europeans arriving in London who want to travel the length and breadth of the country, their new base at Heathrow Airport.
The brothers also specialise in designing and converting bespoke VW motorhomes for camper fans to buy through their subsidiary company RV Campers, led by Frazer, a trained cabinet-market who previously designed and built props at Pinewood Studios.
Callum, said: “We are delighted to take our business to the next level by expanding south of the border to make it easier than ever before to pick up and drop off hired vans around the UK, and also to be able to create new jobs and apprenticeships.
“Hiring a motorhome and setting out on your own adventure whether it’s here in the UK or if your heading off to Europe, where you have the freedom and flexibility to tour, park up and enjoy what different places have to offer is becoming more and more popular every year.
“What you can see, experience and wake up to every day, whether it’s beautiful beaches, mountains or cities, is destined to be a great adventure filled with long-lasting memories, many of them we can relate to first-hand.”
