Edwin James Holdings targets UK growth with Midlands acquisition

Facilities services group Edwin James Holdings (EJH) has acquired Midlands-based Peterborough Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (PEME) as part of ambitious growth plans. The deal value was not disclosed.
PEME is an outsourced reliability maintenance services company that provides electrical and mechanical plant and asset maintenance to large UK and European manufacturers.
In making this acquisition, EJH has further expanded its service offering and geographical footprint; and created a business with combined revenues of approximately £150m and approximately 1000 staff.
The acquisition is the group’s second since it was backed by specialist support services investment firm Aliter Capital in January 2017 and is part of plans to establish EJH as a leading national technical services business. To support its growth strategy, the group recently appointed Derek Smith, formerly CEO at oil and gas industry pipe specialist Ramco and a senior figure in the engineering sector, as its chief executive.
EJH is headquartered just outside Glasgow and operates five key businesses: PEME; Staffordshire-based WT Parker Group; Musk, in Derbyshire; Ingen Technical Services, in Central Scotland; and Korrie, which is based in Inverness.
Derek Smith, CEO of Edwin James Holdings, said: “PEME is a highly-regarded business that has successfully carved out a niche in the growing outsourced production management services market. The company’s focus on plant maintenance is a great fit for EJH and will enable us to further develop our process services offering and capabilities.
“PEME’s management team has over 72 years’ hands on experience in the business and we look forward to working with them as we take the next step in establishing EJH as a truly national technical services operator.”
Ashley Maile, Managing Director of PEME, said“In Edwin James Holdings we have found the right partner with an impressive track record in delivering business growth. With our strong reputation and EJH’s in-depth industry knowledge PEME can reach its full potential delivering best in class services to the UK market place.”
