Drink Baotic Celebrate with Sir Richard Branson

It’s been a productive few weeks for Drink Baotic as part of their recent launch as they met with Sir Richard Branson to celebrate their Virgin Media Voom Tour Win from November 2017.
Baotic is a dairy free, high fibre, prebiotic drink made from Organic African Baobab super fruits.  It is positioned as a delicious, nutritious and convenient multivitamin drink on the go.
The business supports female co-operatives in rural Gambia to develop agricultural gardens to improve income, health and nutrition.

Their first crowdfunder, before the next stage of raising investment,  was designed to celebrate the new Baotic drinks range and was reward based offering drinks and ‘grow your own Baobab Bonsai kits’ in return for pledges. It was successfully 121% funded, receiving £6059 from their £5000 target and will help the business to continue to secure retail outlets.
Their B2B industry launch event at Glasgow Caledonian University was well attended by the Scottish business community, retailers, distributors, media and food/health bloggers. The event continued the pair’s hat theme, with hats to be gifted to the Gambian female farmers when they visit the communities that they support later in the year.
Baotic was crowned the Glasgow winner of the Regional Virgin Media Business Voom Pitch competition in November 2017 where co-founder Isatou Njai successfully won the final, selected from a panel of professional judges against 6 others businesses tocollects £5,000 for the business. Drink Baotic impressed the judges with its healthy drink alternative, and clear business proposition and CSR strategy building on the co-founders 10 years’ experience supporting community projects in The Gambia.
Isatou and Paul Blackler have worked with scientists to develop the drink into a highly nutritious product. Drink Baotic is also low in sugar, low in calories, zero fat, gluten free, dairy free and vegan catering for many dietary and lifestyle needs.
Following a number of other significant business awards and a Royal Society of Edinburgh Fellowship, celebrating their progress with Sir Richard Branson will no doubt be a great platform to continue to grow the business.
Isatou commented: “Its been a busy couple of months but incredible to take time out to celebrate our launch, and what better way than with successful entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson. It was amazing to have his encouragement and support, and it even turns out that his favourite tree is the Baobab Tree! Well, he now has Baotic Baobab bonsai kits for his Grandchildren.”
The drinks can currently be purchased from venues such as The V and V Café Glasgow Westend, ‘Roots and Fruits, Grassroots Café, Kelpies Café, Glasgow Botanic Gardens outside café, Stalks and Stems and Glencoe Mountain café. They plan to start working with their first distributor in the next few weeks, whilst continuing conversations with larger retailers.
