Angus & Oink Close In On £5,000 Tesco BackIt Total

Angus & Oink, the barbecue company, is closing in on its £5,000 crowd funding Tesco BackIt campaign, as it celebrates hitting 70% pledged. The campaign ends on 13th January 2017.
The firm, which produces and sells hot sauces, rubs, a range of sausages and a recently launched range of craft beer, was approached by Tesco to participate in its BackIt scheme to assist with business and product growth.
Tesco BackIt gives small food and drink businesses the chance to tell their story, show off their products and campaign for funding to help them grow. It also helps the small business with advice and mentoring from industry experts.
If the Aberdeen-based company hits the £5,000 target, the funds will be used to upscale production as well as introduce new sauce Phat Taco – a smokey chipotle chilli sauce, inspired by authentic sauces the owners sampled in and around the border towns in Mexico, traditionally served on totopos and tacos.
Scott Fraser, Pitboss and Owner at Angus & Oink, says: “We were thrilled when Tesco contacted us about the BackIt campaign. We are constantly looking at ways to evolve the product range so the decision to add a new sauce to the line was a natural progression for us. We are devoted to the BBQ culture of the Southern states of the US and South America and want to present an all-encompassing BBQ product experience to our customers.”
“2016 has been a great time of expansion for the business with the recent launch of our beer range as well as continuing to grow our large and loyal brand following through our website and social media channels. To obtain the funding to upscale production and introduce Phat Taco would be the icing on the cake and a fantastic way to start 2017.”
“We would like to thank each and every one of our campaign backers and will continue to experiment with beer and flavour combinations that emphasise food and regional cuisine around BBQ, street food and great produce.”
